Why we created the Browser Client Application

Our journey started with a simple goal: to make digital content deployment accessible on more devices. Traditionally, our platform supported devices running on systems like BrightSign, Android, Windows, Samsung Tizen, and LGWebOS. However, we noticed a gap — a significant number of users with ChromeOS devices, such as media players for signage or interactive kiosks, were left out.

Enter the Browser Client App. This solution is perfect for anyone whose devices can run a Chromium browser version 71 or higher. This means that we have effectively broadened our device compatibility and can now deploy content to devices and operating systems that were not previously supported.

More specifically, the Browser Client Application provides support for:

• Those running previously un-supported operating systems - we support Android versions 5+ so if you were someone with devices running Android 4 and that has chromium browser 71 or higher installed, you can now use Wallboard.
• Those with security concerns - Currently on Windows, Wallboard has to run as administrator, and some IT people don’t like this for security reasons. With our Browser App, we don’t control the actual device (rebooting it, etc) therefore it doesn’t need to run as an admin, it just loads in the browser to display content.
• Those with physical hardware limitations - Our Browser App allows a device that didn’t have enough RAM or storage to run Wallboard.
